WakeCap raises $28M Series A to expand AI-powered construction intelligence platform globally

Founded in 2017 by Dr. Hassan Albalawi, WakeCap has developed an IoT and AI-powered project controls platform that delivers visibility into workforce activity, safety, productivity, and site progress across large-scale infrastructure and development projects.

WakeCap, a Saudi-born, Dubai-based construction technology startup, has raised $28 million in Series A funding to scale its real-time jobsite intelligence platform across global markets.

The round was led by US-based UP Partners, with participation from Graphene Ventures and strategic investors from Saudi Arabia, the US, and Asia. The announcement was made at the Saudi-US Investment Forum.

Founded in 2017 by Dr. Hassan Albalawi, WakeCap has developed an IoT and AI-powered project controls platform that delivers visibility into workforce activity, safety, productivity, and site progress across large-scale infrastructure and development projects.

Background

Construction remains one of the world’s most under-digitised sectors. WakeCap’s founding thesis was that real-time, sensor-based insights could drive radical improvements in performance, safety, and transparency — especially across complex megaprojects in the Gulf and Asia.

To date, WakeCap’s platform has been deployed on $80 billion worth of active construction, tracking 150 million+ labour hours across clients like Aramco, NEOM, Qiddiya, and King Salman Park.

❌ The size of the opportunity

Global infrastructure investment is hitting record highs — but project delays, safety lapses, and cost overruns continue to plague the sector.

In regions like the Gulf, where governments are undertaking multi-trillion-dollar transformation plans, accurate, real-time site data has become mission-critical.

WakeCap claims its platform has led to:

  • 91% reduction in safety issues

  • 25% increase in productivity

  • 70% faster incident response times

📖 What does the company do?

WakeCap’s system uses sensor-powered wearables and edge devices to deliver:

  • Real-time labor and equipment tracking

  • Predictive safety and risk alerts

  • Project progress and productivity dashboards

  • Integration with platforms like Oracle and OpenSpace

The platform is designed to support both contractors and developers, providing a unified source of truth across large and often fragmented worksites.

🔮 Outlook

As governments race to deliver megaprojects on time — and ESG scrutiny rises — WakeCap is well-positioned as a compliance and performance layer for the modern jobsite.

The company will use the new funding to expand its presence in the US, Japan, Saudi, and UAE, deepen product integrations, and accelerate adoption among tier-one infrastructure players.
